Kokstad (Rietfontein): 17 January 2017 - Update

The Rietfontein farm is located along the R617 road on the way to Kokstad from Underberg and has its back against the magnificent Drakensberg mountains in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. In winter, it snows and despite the summer days being hot, evenings are always cool.

Vryheid (Fairplay): 17 January 2017 Update

The Fairplay farm is set along the banks of the Blood River, Vryheid Northern KwaZulu-Natal. Its boundary and source of water is a stone throw from the historical Battle of Blood River. The farm is 680 hectares and has a man-made dam on the river that is shared with two other farms. The farm is owned by Bill van Lelyveld – a seasoned cattle farmer who is also a member of our team.

The wall also doubles up as a selfie and photo studio and has proved popular with our visitors and customers alike. We encourage more of you to pop-in and see us - we brew good coffee that is best served black. We have toyed with the idea of bringing one milk cow to the square to give us a daily supply of fresh milk. When we get that approval from the Mayor, we will on the same day also change the name of the square from Gandhi to Livestock Square.

Livestock Wealth Turns One


We turned one on 13 October 2016. The celebration for this important affair was low-key because, at the time, our Chief Technology Officer and I were part of the intensive three-month MassChallenge UK accelerator programme in London, United Kingdom. To celebrate, we managed to find the cheapest South African red wine at the Tesco supermarket in Woolwich Arsenal for a £6.99 (much higher than the £1.99 for the same bottle in SA).
